Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this site, and to tell us when they cannot.
What we aim for
This site is built against WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard most commonly used to judge whether a website is usable by people with disabilities, and it is what we hold ourselves to.
What that means in practice
- Every colour combination has been measured for contrast, and text that fails is not used
- The site works with the keyboard alone, with a skip link and visible focus outlines
- Headings, landmarks and lists are marked up properly for screen readers
- Every image and icon carries a text alternative
- Tap targets are large enough to use comfortably on a phone
- Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that
- The site is offered in English, Arabic and Spanish, with Arabic laid out right to left
Where we know we fall short
This is a new site and we have not yet had it tested by people using assistive technology day to day. Automated checks catch a great deal, but they do not catch everything, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise.
